Tasting Notes: The Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Ama is a brilliant ruby red color. The wine is fermented separately in stainless steel using ambient wild yeasts only and malolactic fermentation is in stainless steel. It is then blended and aged in oak barriques. The palate is filled with bright, fresh red fruits, with cherry and raspberry notes on the nose. The palate is elegant with well-balanced notes of exotic spices. The voluptuous finish is long and leaves you wanting more.
Estate History: Castello di Ama sits 12 miles northeast of Siena in the hills of Gaiole. This is the heart of Chianti Classico, a bucolic rolling landscape of woods, vineyards and olive groves. The property is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Marco Pallanti and Lorenza Sebasti. Over the last quarter century they have replanted all of the vineyards and upgraded all of the winemaking capabilities to make this one of Tuscany’s showcase producers.
