Continue the education and learn about three of the most distinctive areas for Italian Wine Production.

PIEDMONT (Piedmont) occupies most of northwestern Italy, bordering Switzerland in the north and France in the west and almost reaching the Mediterranean coast. In the wine world, Piemonte is best known for the twin titans of Barolo and Barbaresco, along with other popular red wines made om Barbera and Dolcetto, the white Gavi, and sparkling Asti. Its primary grape varieties are Barbera (31%), Moscato (22%), Dolcetto (13%), and Nebbiolo (10%).

BARBERA D'ALBA Borgogno
Tasting Notes:
Very intense ruby red. Vinous and persistent bouquet, which tends to be ethereal with moderate aging in the bottle. Dried raspberry, leather, and black cherry followed by warming spices. Perfect to pair with pasta dishes with meat sauce or with pork meat dishes and spicy cheeses.

CHIANTI The Chianti area in Tuscany is one of the most beautiful in the whole region, as well as the most well-known and appreciated by visitors om across the world. Chianti offers a unique landscape, with green, gentle hills covered with wide fields of vineyards and olive groves, small stone villages, characteristic parishes and countryside homes in stone. The Chianti landscapes are so beautiful and particular that they inspire many photographs which then become postcards and calendars distributed across the globe.

CHIANTI RÙFINA RISERVA Castello Nipozzano
Tasting Notes:
A vibrant ruby-red colour, the nose presents fruity hints of berries and black cherry, as well as elegant floral notes. The fresh quality provided by the balsamic notes is simply wonderful. These are followed by roasted and spiced notes of pepper, nutmeg and coffee.

SARDEGNA Only slightly smaller than Sicily and thus the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, Sardegna (aka Sardinia) has a complex political history that’s involved multiple changes of leadership, foreign military presence, and nationalist movements over the centuries. With less of an inherent wine culture than mainland Italy, and arguably more in common with Spain, Sardegna favors international varieties like Moscato, Malvasia, Grenache (called Cannonau here), Carignan, and Cabernet Sauvignon over most traditional Italian grapes.

COSTAMOLINO VERMENTINO DI SARDEGNA Argiolas
Tasting Notes:
Vermentino often shows the fragrance of macchia, the mix of evergreen shrubs and herbs that typifies the Sardinian landscape. Costamolino hints at aromas of pine and mint coupled with ripe stone uit and sweet citrus. The palate is at once vibrant and textural and finishes with lingering acidity.
