Tasting Notes: The Rarefratte Vespaiolo has intense notes of white flowers and a powerful mineral presence on the palate. Perfect with hard cheeses, roast chicken or vegetarian dishes.
Estate History: Owned and operated by Cristian Moresco Rarefratte is located in Breganze at the foot of the Asiago plateau near Bassano del Grappa in the province of Vicenza; a hilly belt consisting of volcanic ridges rich with sedimentary volcanic rocks and plentiful clayey soil. In 2012 Cristian takes over the family vineyard and begins converting them to biodynamic farming. The project is ambitious and includes the recovery of 6 ancient varietals from this micro region, Gruaja, Ottocai, Pedevenda, Sciampagna, Groppella and Vespaiola.
While the young plants grew, Cristian concentrated on making pure micro vinifications of these grapes to capture their real characteristics and potential. For Cristian, wine was the final goal of a long journey made up of years of trial, in an attempt to decipher this beautiful micro region of Veneto.
Respect in making his wines is first and foremost for the territory: in an environment where fortunately biodiversity reigns, the harvests are manual, there is no use of synthetic chemicals. In the cellar as Cristian puts it “you are only careful not to ruin the work done in the vineyard.” Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimal So2 only when necessary.
